September 9 - 17, 2022

Spectacular, Awe-inspiring Beauty!

Please join me this September- it's going to be an outstanding week!

Let me know of your interest soon!

The canyons of southern Utah offer spectacular, awe-inspiring vistas, each with different eye-popping scenery, from high plateaus and rock towers to unique rock formations and slot canyons carved by ancient rivers. The sheer, vertical canyon walls rising 1000 –2000 feet above the canyon floor will impress you, and the kaleidoscope of colors running through these canyons will leave you entranced in quiet wonder.

Join me for an incredible 9-day adventure in Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park,

two of Utah’s most outstanding canyons! We will enjoy scenic canyons with fantastic rock formations of colorful hoodoos, sandstone monoliths, natural bridges, red arches and windows.

September is a wonderful time of the year to explore Bryce and Zion. By mid September, the overall temperatures have started to cool off in both parks and the crowds have begun to thin. A nice variety of wildflowers will still be in bloom and fall colors will begin to show at the highest elevations, adding even more delightful color to our hikes.

    Hiking the Canyons of Southern Utah – September 9 – 17, 2022

There is no better way to experience the grandeur and thrill of Bryce and Zion than by hiking the trails. And this, my friends, is exactly what we’ll do. Each day we will hike a different trail and be thrilled by new sights and sounds along our path. On this Naturalist-led trip, we will explore the natural history and geology of these extraordinary canyon lands, learning about the wildlife and plant life adapted to living in this varied, distinctive, and sometimes harsh landscape.

You will be in awe as you take in the beauty and wonder of the incredible shapes and colors of

Bryce Canyon. Here, erosive forces have shaped and created amphitheaters of great proportion with thousands of limestone spires, pillars, pinnacles and rock temples. These “hoodoos” rise from the canyon floor like massive stalagmites. We will have the opportunity to enjoy expansive views of Bryce’s natural architecture and to be up close and personal to its whimsical forms, as we hike amongst these remarkable geologic formations.

With its Navajo sandstone cliffs, among the highest in the world, Zion has a completely different look and feel than Bryce, though no less spectacular. Zion’s nearly vertical, massive monoliths and precipitous canyon walls are sure to inspire and amaze you. Elevations range from 3600’ to 8700’, providing a mosaic of habitats from the forested mesas of high elevations to the depths of the canyon, from dry slopes receiving less than 14 inches of precipitation to the lush canyon floor along the Virgin River.

For our accommodations, our first 3 nights will be spent at The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, located in

Bryce Canyon National Park. Each room is just steps from the canyon rim. For the remaining 5 nights, our lodging is located just one mile from the entrance to Zion National Park and across the street from the Virgin River. Our small hotel is within easy walking distance of the heart of Springdale, a charming little town with a wide variety of galleries, restaurants and shops.

Enjoy this video of a beautiful song called “The River.” Images used were taken by me (Liz Domingue) on some of my Just Get Outdoors trips. Song written and performed by my friend Gary Mitchell with Molasses Creek of Ocracoke Island.
